More Snow

This is what is looks like outside my house right now:

The heaviest snowfall is forecasted to hit areas around the “North Carolina and Virginia border.” That pretty much describes where we live. Total snowfall is supposed to reach 12 to 18 inches by the end of today. There are only a few inches so far, so we’ll see what happens.

Contrast to two weeks ago, when we went for a motorcycle ride:

The weather was in the 50s and sunny, but there was still now on the ground from the first big snowfall four weeks prior. By using our heated gear, we didn’t even have to bundle up very much; we had a great ride and ate lunch at Pilot Mountain, but it was still really weird to be out riding the motorcycles with snow still on the ground.

Yup. We both have electric plug-in vests and gloves that can be worn underneath our regular riding jackets. The gloves are good heavy winter gloves that plug into the sleeves of the electric jacket liner. The whole thing plugs into the bike’s electrical system,(battery) so when the bike is running, the jacket and gloves heat up like an electric blanket. The heat in the gloves and jacket are independently controlled by adjustable switches mounted near the gauge cluster on the bikes. It makes riding in 50° weather pleasant, when its otherwise really cold at speed.
