I like to think of my neighbor as St. Francis, as she does a lot of work with animals. Its pretty fun to have her nearby, because there is always a menagerie of cuteness to enjoy. Last week, in addition to all the regular dogs, cats, and horses, she had a baby raccoon, and I’m kicking myself for not taking any pictures when she brought it over to visit us. This week I came prepared, as she’s fostering a fawn that’s only a few weeks old. We went for a visit after our dinner tonight, and I got to feed him. I was surprised to find that the fawn is not the least bit skittish around people, and delighted to see that it has become friends with one of her dogs, who has assumed the role of caretaker and protector. Its pretty cute:
