Hike at Hanging Rock

First hike for 2014 on Saturday. Temps in the 30s seemed a bit cool at first, but it felt great after we got moving. Otherwise, it was a brilliantly sunny and gorgeous day. We even stayed warm sitting at a picnic table eating lunch. Only the top of the lookout tower was windy and cold enough that we didn’t bother with the usual lingering with the binoculars, and hustled back down the metal stairs.

A few pics below. I am loving our new camera (Sony NEX-3N, a compact system or “mirrorless” camera). I just left it in auto this time, and the quality of photos is fantastic (far better than anything we’ve ever owned, which is admittedly just point and shoots, which makes this a great step up to our first “real” camera.)

Total hike was about 4.5 or 5 miles (whatever the Moore’s Wall loop trail works out to).
